Start with the imprint: the letters, numbers or logo pressed into the pill. It is the most reliable clue, because in the US almost every prescription and over-the-counter tablet or capsule is required to carry one. Type it exactly as you see it, then add the color and shape to narrow the list.
Check both sides. Many pills have a code on one side and a number or score line on the other. Write both sides into the imprint box with a space between them.
Type the letters and numbers printed on the pill into the imprint box, including both sides. You can leave out dashes and spaces. Then pick the color and shape to narrow the results, and compare the photo, size and score line with your pill.
Pills without an imprint are often supplements, vitamins, herbal products, foreign medicines or illegally made drugs. They cannot be identified reliably from color and shape alone. Take the pill to a pharmacist, and do not take it until you know what it is.
Yes, as a starting point. The photo helper reads the color and shape and can try to read the imprint, then fills in the search for you. Always check the imprint yourself, because embossed letters are hard for cameras to read.
No. The photo is analyzed inside your browser on your own device and is never sent to our server.
Compare the color, shape, size in millimeters, the score line and the other side of the pill. If they still look the same, a pharmacist can tell them apart from the manufacturer and strength.
